Saturday July 27th.... snippets from today's newsletter

Ligue 2 one of our main leagues starts next Friday and the English Football League season starts in earnest
the next day, this time next week we will all be very nervous and excited and everyone can enter the new campaign with high hopes, even if it might only take 90 minutes for reality to set back in for some !

I have posted a couple of updates over on the clubgowi website, including one preview for tonight's MLS football. I sent subscribers seven previews today, four from the MLS and two from Brazil, plaus a few words about one of this afternoon's friendly matches.

The next couple of months are going to be manic with our three main "Summer" leagues, MLS, Brazil and J-League all running alongside European football until the end of the year.

The subscriber rates have been increased from today, if you have been debating joining and feel hard done by to have missed out on a bargain, if you contact me at gowi8@btinternet.com in the next 24 hours and I will tell you how to sign up at old rates.

Her are a few snippets from today's notes ....

Toronto FC have kept just two clean sheets in 35 starts and have not won here at BMO Field in 374 days, their sole home win in the last year coming at Rogers Centre.

Sporting KC are without Matt Besler ( 15-0-1) and the situation is severely compounded with the suspension to his centre back partner in Aurélien Collin (19-3-2), the last time SKC started a match without either was, well never, since Collin joined in early 2011, one or other has always played, usually both.

NYRB: Espindola with be ultra motivated with Red Bulls signing former Brentford player Bradley Wright-Phillips this week, the Bees did not make any effort to take him on a permanent deal, but he shoud do well in the MLS and will certainly provide competition for starting places.

No clean sheets in ten starts in all competitions for Chicago Fire , eleven in the MLS, five times conceding two or more .

Vasco da Gama got their first win for new coach Dorival Junior, a shock 3-1 win at Fluminense, with Juninho Pernambucano ( yes, that Juninho) scoring a goal and assist on his (third) debut for the club where he made his name.

Good Luck.
