HSBC WORLD MATCH PLAY GOLF SEMI-FINALS ....

ANGEL CABRERA - HUNTER MAHAN
ERNIE ELS - HENRIK STENSON

I favour Cabrera in the top match, but think the odds are just about right.

Ernie Els has milked this tournament with six previous wins, it is played on a course where he lives and where he has helped with the redesign. However, there is little doubt that his game is not what it was and in Stenson, he will meet a player who produced some fantastic golf on Friday. In beating Anders Hansen 7&5, he shot 12 birdies and just one bogey, which compares very favourably with Ernie's 10 birdies and five bogies.

Stenson looked fit and hungry after a disappointing 2007 and has the experienced Fanny Sunesson carrying his bag, she knows Wentworth almost as well as Els, after a decade with another course specialist, Nick Faldo. Hansen was impressed by his opponent and said "he was awesome" and "it's tough when you have to make a hole-in-one to win a hole !" Els has a ticket for the Rugby World Cup final on Sunday night and maybe, at this stage of his career, golf is not the only thing in his life.

4.5 points Stenson to beat Els 2.60 exchanges.

Good Luck.

FRIDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL ....

DIVISION 1

MORECAMBE - BRADFORD CITY

City are a better team than their league position suggests, the Accrington game aside, they have not really played badly this season and have had a clear week to prepare for this fixture. The fans have not given up on them and they sold their 1200 allocation of tickets for this game a week ago. This is their lowest league position in 30 years, they showed a lot of fight in the last loss to MK Dons and are very motivated to get back on track.

Much has been made on other sites about City letting a bunch of youngsters out on loan, as if this was a bad thing. They are not getting any playing time at Bradford and the idea is for them to pick up a little experience. The visitors have one of the biggest squads in the division, which with Evans and Law, their two recent loan signings, numbers over 30 players. Manager Stuart McCall knows how important a good result is tonight, with 3 of their next 4 at home, they still have time to get back into the promotion hunt.

Morecambe played a cup tie in midweek, they did rest several players for that game, but in their first season in the Football League, have already had a number of fixtures, with a limited size squad.

This stand in the photograph will be filled with City fans tonight, I feel myself strangely drawn to empty football stadia, must be too many years of following Brentford.

4.5 points Bradford +1/4 ball 1.98 asian line.

Good Luck.

FRIDAY MORNING

Both of yesterday's golf bets won very easily, as has every selection on the blog the week. I have written 5 previews, the three football teams won at scores of 2-0, 5-2 and 3-1, the golfers 6&5 and 4&2 for an almost 25 point profit. This, in probably one of the quietest sporting midweeks of the year, if you know of any site, service, or individual that has done better in the past 4 days, then believe me they are good ( or lucky) and kindly send me a link.

I have written previews of six matches on the email service, five for today and one tomorrow, where I am sure that the odds will tumble through the day. I will probably put one of these on the blog late afternoon, but only one at most. Sorry about that, but the majority of write ups will have to be restricted to subscribers.

However, I have a little more leeway over the weekend, when there are more matches and am very likely to be able to post more then. I will definitely be looking at the World Matchplay semi-finals overnight, or very early tomorrow, for any golf fans amongst you.

Good Luck.

THURSDAY UPDATE ...

The golf from Wentworth has been delayed this morning, we have a lot of fog in the South East.

I have two football selections on the newsletter today, unfortunately, on a day when there are limited opportunities, it will not be possible to post either on the blog, that would be unfair to subscribers.

In the last three weeks, I have written previews of 117 football matches on the email service , 70 have produced winning selections, almost spot on 60%. Including winners at odds of 4.80, 4.50, 4.10 and 3.00. Over the last week alone, 25/41, or 61% have been successful.

However, these are just the basic results and I feel that the information contained within the newsletter, is of equal value, especially with reference to trends, teams to follow and the general approach to analysing matches. With a little fine tuning and personal knowledge, which I am sure, you all have, profits could be even greater. For a couple of dollars per day, I doubt that there is better value on the internet.

Details of the email service can be found here.

Good Luck.

HSBC WORLD MATCH PLAY GOLF .... WENTWORTH

ANGEL CABRERA - RETIEF GOOSEN

Wentworth is an old style golf course, one where you have to think your way round and know when to gamble, the same players tend to do well year after year. Angel Cabrera has a wonderful record here and murders the Par 5's, with his huge driving. At the PGA Championship held here every May, he has claimed 5 top 6 finishes, including a win and two runner up spots. He is paired with Retief Goosen, who is a fine player, but one who is having a year that he will be desperate to forget and in addition, he has missed the cut in the PGA event on five occasions, a truly terrible record for such a consistent golfer.

PADRAIG HARRINGTON - ANDERS HANSEN

Padraig Harrington, for reasons that few can understand, has no liking for the West Course, he claims that it simply doesn't suit his game and rarely plays at the venue. He is matched with Anders Hansen, who would probably name Wentworth as his favourite course, it is certainly the scene of not one, but his two biggest ever wins and he also has a 4th place and several top 20's to his name here.

This is a match play tournament with golfers playing each other and not the field, over 36 holes.

4.5 points Cabrera to beat Goosen 1.83 Pinnacle.
4 points Hansen to beat Harrington 2.58 Pinnacle.

Very similar odds should be available nearer the start time, on the exchanges.

Good Luck.

A QUICK UPDATE ....

I have only previewed two matches today, so will have to restrict those to subscribers. However, I will put something online late tonight for an event starting early tomorrow morning, so for any early risers on Thursday, please take a look.

Good Luck.

TUESDAY ROUND UP ....... at the blog with Cash for all !

The sole blog selection won, with Hartlepool running in five goals away from home. They did almost as well as subscribers, who, with 4 of the five selections winning, including one at odds of 4.50 have banked another huge profit on the day.

I am definitely going to take another 25 subscribers to the email service, after which time it is likely to be capped, or newcomers after that time, may have to pay a premium to join. If you are seriously considering signing up, I suggest you do so asap.

I still wish to put free posts on the blog, but the whole ethos of GOWI is about giving selections which offer value for money and it is a simple fact that subscribers have the previews 5-6 hours before they appear on the site. Which means that they are normally gambled through the day and I feel unable/unwilling to post anything, where all the value has been sucked out of a bet.

If I was not writing the previews, I would willingly pay ten times what the subsciption costs to receive the information, let alone the price of a daily newspaper. Believe me, at comparable rates, there is not a better service on the internet.

Details of the email service can be found on this link.

Good Night !

TONIGHT'S FOOTBALL ..... the best dressed supporters in the land, or a team photo ?

The line for two of my selections this evening, has already moved a full 1/4 ball on each and a third from 1.83 + to 1.70, so they have become impossible to tip on the blog, by a process of elimination, here is today's selection .....

JOHNSTONES PAINT TROPHY

LINCOLN - HARTLEPOOL

Strongly feel that the visitors, who have impressed most viewers this season, will be the more committed this evening. They are keen to return to winning ways after going four without a victory and were very unfortunate to lose at inform Forest, over the weekend. Boss Danny Wilson will make some changes, but they look a class above City, whatever side they put out.

The hosts are in a mess and currently only have Mansfield below them, at the foot of the entire Football League. Think it tells you a lot about the spirit at a club when Beevers, who scored an own goal, was blamed for the failure to beat Morecambe on saturday, on the club's own website. Looking to pass the buck, is no way out of a tight fix !

Lincoln have a much bigger game at the weekend, a trip to leaders MK Dons and as that is being shown live on Sky and given their predicament, that will be given priority. Confidence giving win for the visitors.

5 points Hartlepool -1/4 ball 1.86 asian line.

Good Luck.

NOT EVERYDAY IN ENGLAND IS SUNNY !

That is meant to be ironic by the way, it is only 10.30 am and I have already got drenched twice today !

I have written five previews on the newsletter, one is for a very early kick off, the others are evening fixtures, which include three domestic games in the Johnstones Paint Trophy and the Blue Square Premiership. Providing the "lines" hold up reasonably well, I will put one or two of these on the blog later today, so please check back.

Good Luck.

ROUND UP ....

The two Scandinavian selections this evening were both winners. They were only posted some 35 minutes before kick off, which is unfortunate, email subscribers had them six hours earlier and at much bigger prices, 2.075 instead of 1.87 and 2.05 over 1.96. These make a MASSIVE, MASSIVE difference to profits in the long term.

Someone betting 40 euros on each, would have made an extra 12 euros profit, or 15%. you simply cannot afford to throw money away like that, day after day, not for something that costs the same as a daily newspaper, or an ice cream

Please take a few minutes to consider that and to read the post below, I am supplying quality information on a daily basis and the vast percentage of it, is only available on the email subscription service. There are further details available on this link and you can sign up in a few moments.

Good Night !

ENGLISH FOOTBALL .... THE STORY SO FAR

Nine/ten games into the new season and with a short break in domestic league games, I thought that this would be the ideal time to look at our long term bets, decide what to do with them, if anything and to ponder adding something else to our portfolio.

I previewed all 4 leagues and had a brief look at the BSP, in the week leading up to the start of the 2007/08 campaign and suggested a single team in each, plus a handicap selection in the Premiership. These bets have gone as well as could be expected, infact, they look in incredible shape.

One reader has already contacted me to say that he has covered the selections in a multiple bet, he is getting very excited and it is only early October !

Let's take a quick look at the selections and their current odds and then I want to have a longer look at one league in particular, remember, these were the ONLY outright selections given.

CHAMPIONSHIP

5 points Watford to gain promotion 4.0 general quote .... Hills / Corals/Sky

Watford are top of the table, with a 4 points lead and are priced as low as 1.57 for promotion with Stan James.

DIVISION 1

2.5 points Swansea outright 11.0 general quote

5 points Swansea promoted 4.0 Bet365/Tote/ Boyle/ Sky

After a bad run of injuries, Swansea have moved into 4th place following a 5-0 win AWAY at the league leaders.

DIVISION 2

2 points win Milton Keynes Dons 9.0 general

5 points promotion 3.0 Tote/ Stan James/Bet 365.

Dons are two points clear at the top and are the division's top scorers, Ladbrokes have priced them at 3.0 to win the title.

BLUE SQUARE PREMIERSHIP

6 points Aldershot to finish in the top half 1.72 Blue Square.

Shots are third in the table, already have 10 wins to their name and are 12 points clear of the bottom half.

PREMIERSHIP

6 points Manchester United 2.375 outright, general quote.

United have recovered after a sluggish start and are set to put in a big challenge, their odds are unchanged.

2 points each way Blackburn Rovers +34 points handicap 16.0 1/5 odds 1234 Ladbrokes....

If that is not available to you, or makes limited appeal, they can be backed at 6.0 for a top 6 spot with Bet 365/ Ladbrokes and Paddy Power, amongst others.

Rovers are nicely placed inside the top 6, are the only team to have taken points off Arsenal and look in great shape. Now 3.15 for a top 6 finish with Betfair.

Hard to believe that any tipsters, anywhere, have done better so far, if they have, good luck to them, they must be good !
I am happy with all the above bets and do not see any real need to "cover" any of the them at present.
Division 1 looks the most interesting league and one that we can take a quick look at. After being deducted 15 points, Leeds have cleared the deficit in double quick time, with 9 wins in 10 starts and sit in mid table just 6 points adrift of leaders Tranmere. A remarkable achievement . However, it is hard not to see them suffering a reaction soon, they have certainly had the run of the ball and at circa 3.50 they look plenty short enough. Personally, I could not have them in front of Forest ( 4.33), who have won 4 straight and are finding goals easy to come by at the moment.

Having said that, Swansea are still 12-1 with William Hill and at 1/4 odds 123, I could not direct anyone, who is not already on, elsewhere for a bet. Roberto Martinez has his team playing some very attractive stuff, despite being short of a couple of very key players, especially in midfield, for much of the current campaign. When all are fit, the rest of League 1 had better watch out !

Just to recap, if you are not already on, take a little each way on the Swans.... you know it makes sense !

Good Luck.

SCANDINAVIA ...........

Here are two of today's four email selections, as you can see, both have been well backed.

NORWAY ... BRANN - LYN OSLO

Brann are staying very focused and have no intention of throwing away the title this time, after blowing a big lead last season. Two wins will do it and they should start with an easy win this evening. Lyn have just one win in 4 , conceding 10 goals and have lost on their last 4 visits here, all by 2 or more goals. Brann have won 4 straight, scoring 14 and want revenge, after losing the reverse fixture 6-0, a defeat which came when they were at a season low.

5 points Brann -1.5 goals 2.075 asian line....now 1.87

SWEDEN ... OREBRO - KALMAR

Visitors have to look for the win, they sit in third ,four points behing both Djurgardens and IFK, with this game in hand, they each face daunting trips to Halmstad and AIK respectively at the weekend, so a win tonight for Kalmar and the title chase, is definitely on. After a mid seson blip, they have won 4 from 5 scoring 13 and will fancy their chances at Orebro, who need points at the other end of the league, but who have conceded 7 in their last two.

5.5 points Kalmar -1/4 ball 2.05 asian line....now 1.96

Good Luck.

MONDAY PLANS AND THE WEEK AHEAD .....

I really dislike these International weeks, the actual matches are fine, it is the substandard fayre we have to put up with in the days leading up to them, that is tough to stomach and the endless talk about so and so's groin strain, when the player in qustion probably shouldn't be playing for his country in any case.

Football wise, last week was very good, just a shame that only one of yesterday's NFL selections won. Denver were dire, but there was nothing wrong with the other three wagers, both New Orleans and Green Bay threw away winning positions. Especially the Packers, who turned the ball over five times, when looking to wrap the game up.

I have previewed four matches for subscribers today and will post something from that list on the blog later today. The Johnstone's Paint matches tomorrow, look very interesting, these are hardly going to get the supporters fired up, or the accountants, at least until later in the competition, but provide excellent betting opportunities. Make sure that you check back for those.

Think that I will also take another look at the four domestic divisions outright markets, now that we are on a mini break and will put that online either this evening, or overnight. So plenty of (very) light reading.

Back later.

NFL WEEK 5 .........

GREEN BAY PACKERS - CHICAGO BEARS

Packers defense is really tight, giving up just 16 points per game. Offesively the bears are averaging just 15 points, so we are pretty much on the number there. Even though they have got no running game to speak of, very few teams are going to keep the resurgent Packers and Brett Favre to under 20 points. Bears will struggle to run the ball against Green Bay and through the air they are .... hopeless.

5 points Green Bay -3 points 1.83 Vegas Line.

DENVER BRONCOS - SAN DIEGO CHARGERS

Discussed the Broncos last week, who are very talented but are capable of shooting theirselves in the foot. However, they have an amazing 17-3 record against the AFC West at home. Chargers are struggling to get anything going offensively and will probably not go down the aerial route too often, against the league's best passing defense. On the ground they have star running back LaDainian Tomlinson, but he cannot get his act together either and ran for only 16 second half yards verses the Chiefs last week.

5 .5 points Denver +1 point 1.95 Vegas Line

NEW ORLEANS SAINTS - CAROLINA PANTHERS

Panthers showed little fight or heart in the dire loss to Tampa Bay last week, they still look set to be without Jake Delhomme and star receiver Steve Smith has been having tantrums. This is a must win game for the 0-3 Saints, who will be motivated, prepared and rested, after coming off a rest week.

6 points New Orleans -3.5 points 1.98 Vegas Line.

NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS - CLEVELAND BROWNS

Frightening prospect for the rest of the NFL, if the Patriots did not look strong enough, they now have Rodney Harrison returning, after missing the opening 4 weeks. Only real negative for them, with everything going so well, is that they have had a short week, after playing the Monday night game. The Browns coach spent several years at New England as Belichick's defensive co-ordinator, he might be able to come up with a way for his offensive minded team to score a couple to touchdowns and maybe run the Pats close, certainly closer than the 16.5 point line, which really tempted me. However, in the end, I have sided with the "over".

5 points "over" 48.5 points 2.02 Vegas Line.

Good Luck.

QUICK UPDATE ...

I do not want you to waste any time continually checking back, the rest of today's football selections are solely for subscribers and will not be on the blog. However, as I gave my word earlier, the NFL write up, which will be brief, will still be posted a little later.

ITALY SERIE A .....

PARMA - ROMA

Goals, goals, goals ! So 0-0 then ! Simply cannot see a low scoring affair here, the attack minded visitors will be looking to get back on track after the losses to Inter and Man U and will certainly be going fot it. They were unlucky in the match at Old Trafford, where they had the better of the chances. Amazing h2h stats, in the last 16 meetings, 15 have been "over" and in the last 9, 5 have produced 4 or more, three of them 5 +.

5.5 points "over" 2.5 goals 1.89 exchanges/ 1.862 Pinnacle.

1.5 points "over" 4.5 goals 6.20 + exchanges.

Good Luck.

NETHERLANDS EREDIVISIE .....

VITESSE ARNHEIM - FEYENOORD ROTTERDAM

Very pleasing season so far for Feyenoord. They invested very heavily in experience over the summer, following a terrible 06/07, a policy which has paid instant dividends, with 5 wins from six starts. Their only loss came at PSV, but they did not let that overly concern them and immediately bounced back with a win, younger heads might have let that heavy defeat affect their mental approach . Infact, that defeat aside, they have only conceded one goal in their other 5 starts and can go top, above PSV, with a win today, providing Ajax fail to collect maximum points. Going into the international break, that is a fantastic incentive for the team from Rotterdam. They have not lost here since 2002, winning the last two.

5.5 points Feyenoord -1/2 ball 1.88 asian line

Good Luck.

SUNDAY MORNING ...........

I have written previews of seven matches today, six were sent to subscribers today and one on Friday, the line on that game has, as predicted, already moved by 1/4 ball, giving readers the option to take a profit before a ball has been kicked.

Going to cover a few of these fixtures on the blog and will also be covering the NFL action, where 8 of my last 9 selections have won.

Back very shortly.

Saturday, October 06, 2007

SATURDAY ROUND UP ....

Six of the nine selections previewed on the email won today, for a decent enough profit. However, the results are almost immaterial, at least 8 were fantastic value selections , where subscribers had the best of the action, before a ball was even kicked. Win or lose over a day, week or month, in the long term, information like this will ensure you have a decided edge over your bookmaker.

There are no more special offer places available, but it is still possible to join the newsletter service, full details can be found on this link.

I will be back tomorrow morning, with a blog selection for an early kick off, please check back.

Good Night !

SATURDAY OCTOBER 6TH ......

OK , here, as promised, are today's email previews with basic reasoning. Of the nine selections, one has drifted in the market, seven have been backed, heavily in one or two cases. Win or lose today, this is information that you will make money from in the long term, getting the best of the odds, is the key to consistent profits.

ENGLAND
CHAMPIONSHIP
CARDIFF - BURNLEY

I have discussed Cardiff a lot recently, they just need to tighten up a little at the back and then, they will be able to compete with the best in the Championship. Key defender Purse is likely to return today which would be a massive boost and they are very capable of beating this Burnley team, which have a poor record here, have conceded 2 or more goals in 4 from 6 starts and are not creating as many goalscoring chances, as their goal tally might suggest.

5.5 points Cardiff -1/4 ball 1.74 asian line.... now -1/2 ball 1.96

IPSWICH - PRESTON

Siding with the "over" here. Town play a very open game and are over in their last 4, Preston have come out of their shell and have scored 7 in the last 3 , with 3 from 4 "over". H2h wise it is a similar story with 3 from 4 producing three or more goals.

5 points "over" 2.5 goals 1.90 general quote .... now 1.84

DIVISION 1
CARLISLE- MILLWALL

Whatever happens today, Millwall are a team to keep on our side in the coming weeks. They have been playing FAR better than results might suggest, creating a lot of chances and dominating possession, then losing to a sucker punch. Finally got their reward with a win over inform Northampton in midweek and should travel north in good heart.

4.5 points Millwall +1/2 ball 1.82 asian line .... now 1.85

DIVISION 2
PETERBOROUGH UNITED-GRIMSBY TOWN

United have not lived up to the pre season hype, but have shown signs recently that all those ante post slips at very short odds, might not need to be thrown away just yet. They have collected 4 points and dominated proceedings in two games against Shrewsbury and Darlington, both amongst the better sides in League 2. Boro have been creating chances, 127 in total and hit the woodwork 6 times, league high figures. They look set to really batter somebody. one day soon. Nice run of fixtures ahead for them and apparently they have been brimming with confidence in training this week.

5.5 points Peterborough -3/4 ball 2.0 asian line..... now 1.85

BLUE SQUARE PREMIERSHIP
YORK CITY - HISTON

York look to have turned things around, they have 7 points from 9 and in the draw at Oxford, had the better chances and missed a penalty. They have added striker Daniel McBreen to the squad this week , the Australian is on loan from Scunthorpe, but made his name in Scotland, where he scored a goal every two games. He will start today against the league new boys.

5 points York City -1/4 ball 1.79 asian line..... now -1/2 ball 1.95

SCOTLAND
SPL
DUNDEE UNITED- MOTHERWELL

Two contrasting styles here, even at home United, who like to keep things tight, are likely to sit back and let the attack minded visitors come at them. Motherwell are an improving team and in recent starts scored 4 at Hibs, 2 at Aberdeen and drew with Rangers, after which the coach was critical of their performance. Which indicates the very high standard that they have set theirselves. This is a fine young team, they have one of the best youth policies in the UK and 3 players were this week called up to the Scotland U21 squad.

5.5 points Motherwell +1/4 ball 2.0 asian line..... now 1.86

KILMARNOCK - INVERNESS CT

ICT are on fire ! They have won their last 3 scoring 9 goals and have been hungry and committed in each performance, a remarkable turnaround in form. Kilmarnock have horrendous problems today, they have 11 players out and will only be able to name one outfield player on the bench !

6 points ICT +1/2 ball 1.67 asian line..... now level ball 1.82 !

DIVISION 1
LIVINGSTON - ST JOHNSTONE

Regular readers will know that I like Saints and they are my choice to win this league, despite trailing by 8 points. They have recovered from a sluggish start, are unbeaten in 8, have scored 7 in the last week and 13 in the last two. Away win.

5.5 points St Johnstone -1/4 ball 1.97 asian line.... now 1.89

DIVISION 3 MONTROSE - EAST STIRLING

We talked in depth about ES last week, they have returned to their old ways and have conceded 16 in three and a half matches, they still have injury concerns today. Hosts are keen to get back to winning ways after losing to Dumbarton last week, they had previously scored 11 in 3 straight wins.

5.5 points Montrose -1 ball 1.82 asian line.... now 2.0 !

Good Luck.

SATURDAY ....... WHAT'S HAPPENING !

Hi, I have put previews of nine matches on the email service today and am going to put them all on the blog, including basic reasons, shortly after 15.00 cet.

Please check back.

Friday, October 05, 2007

GERMANY BUNDESLIGA

DORTMUND - BOCHUM

Local derby and I am opposing the hosts as much as backing the away. Dortmund have been dire in losing their last three, conceding 3 goals in each and putting up some terrible stats in the games against Karlsruhe and Hamburg. They will be without 4-8 players and dropped 4 points to Bochum last season, really like the handicap start against a team low on confidence and players.

Update .... 7 out for Dortmund, two defenders and five offensive players.

5 points Bochum +3/4 ball 1.83 asian line.... now 1.77

Good luck.

FRANCE LIGUE 1 ....

I have previewed 6 matches on the email service today and will cover a couple of those on the blog. Should any of you wish to join the subscription service, there are two places remaining at the special offer rate, email me here for details.

MONACO - NANCY

Nancy are top of the table, but much of that success is down to their 100% home record and the fact that 5 of their 8 starts have been at their own ground, on the road they have a decidely average record of 1-1-1. They have 7 players unavailable for selection and travel to the principality to meet a hungry team.

Monaco are without two suspended players, but have no other concerns and a very strong squad, They have lost their last 3 in the league, but are not playing badly, for example in the home loss to PSG they had 64% possession and 25 attempts on goal, they were mugged. Man for man, I feel the hosts are far stronger and expect them to win this evening.

Monaco -1/4 ball 1.92 asian line.

Good Luck.

SORRY !

It will not be possible to post anything on the blog today, two of the three selections have been very heavily gambled, so the real value has gone and I do not feel comfortable putting the third up on it's own, for various reasons.

Good Luck.

TODAY'S FOOTBALL ....

UEFA Cup dominates the proceedings today, perhaps too many matches and the bookmakers are so wary of this competition, that the odds are changing minute by minute.

Blog is going well this week, 6 of the 8 selections have won, although no doubt someone will complain about one of the losers, as they did last week, when only 8 of the first 11 had won !

I have previewed three matches today and will post at least one of them, maybe two, late this afternoon, please check back.

Good Luck.

ENGLAND CHAMPIONSHIP ...

WEST BROMWICH ALBION - STOKE CITY

Albion are in great form on paper, with a 100% home record , the latest of which was a 5-1 win over QPR on Sunday. However, they are now meeting a much stronger side, who have lost just once in 15 league starts and are very difficult to break down. Stoke did the double over WBA last season and will not, like QPR, be arriving with their tail betwen their legs. I expect this to be close and am happy to take such a well organised side with a decent handicap start.

5 points Stoke +3/4 ball 2.04 asian line.

Good Luck.

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE ... MATCHDAY 2

CELTIC- MILAN

I am sure that they will come good at some stage, but this Milan side has failed to impress, are creating little and look older with every game. Celtic are almost impossible to beat in a european game at home, only Barce have managed it in the last 6 years, some 19 matches. They have not conceded in 7 of those and in only 2 of the last 12. They will be without Vennegoor, but that might not be too much of a handicap, as his workrate is often poor, Nakamura is a doubt, but I am assured he will play.

5 points Celtic +1/2 ball currenly 1.90 asian line

BESIKTAS - PORTO

Rumours of unrest at Besiktas, where the coach's days look numbered, they lost their unbeaten record at the weekend and are creating VERY few chances, even against weak opposition. They are a young team and really look to have a tough task here, Porto have really impressed me in the last year, outplayed Liverpool in their opener and have a 100% domestic record, conceding just one goal.

5.5 points Porto level ball 1.88 asian line.... now 1.69

Good Luck.

WEDNESDAY MORNING .....

Two easy winners on the blog yesterday and one very easy loser ! Still, a decent profit and I could live with that every day.

I have written previews of five football matches today, three on the Champions League, my plan is to put 2-3 of them on the blog this afternoon, so please check back.

Tuesday, October 02, 2007

DIVISION 1 ......

BOURNEMOUTH - BRIGHTON

Huge problems continue at Bournemouth, they are without 7-8 players this evening and will have at least 4 in the squad carrying injuries, that would not have been risked under normal circumstances. On saturday they were forced to name a 43yo coach as back up on the bench and in that loss to Carlisle, could have been 4-5 down at the break. Brighton have been a little short of striking options recently, but both starters returned on saturday and will strip fitter tonight.

5 points Brighton level ball 2.04 asian line.

Good Luck.

FRANCE LIGUE 2 ....

BASTIA - DIJON

Think that both teams will score this evening, so have to take the "over" with the goal line set at a low looking "2". Bastia have scored 7 in their last two away and will welcome a slightly easier home game after meeting two of the division's best sides in their most recent starts. Dijon have conceded 8, scored 4, in their last 3 matches.

5 points "over" 2 goals 1.85 asian line.... now 1.76

Good Luck.

ENGLAND .... DIVISION 2

WREXHAM - CHESTERFIELD

Hosts finally ending a dire run ( 6 straight losses) with a hard earned win over 10 man Lincoln at the weekend, but the Imps were on a similarly poor run, so the form line is not too good.
Chesterfield are an ambitious club at this level and have some resources available, options not avaiable to the Welsh club. The visitors lost their unbeaten away record at Notts County on saturday, but really dominated proceedings, Jack Lester, who is normally reliable, missed a number of clear chances, they and him will be keen to return to winning/scoring form this evening. Field have hit the woodwork 6 times this season and are due a little good fortune, their total of 40 attempts on goal, in their last two away starts, makes impressive reading. .

5 points Chesterfield -1/4 ball 2.135 asian line.

Good Luck.

TUESDAY PLANS ....

Patriots saved the day yesterday, their scoring is getting a bit wierd, if they had scored a touchdown instead of a field goal, that would have been their 4th ,38 point score in a row and an exact repeat of last year's 38-13 win, correct scores are not easy to get right in American Football, but New England make it easier !

I have written previews of seven football matches today and will try to put 2-3 on the blog this afternoon, however, there will be nothing for the Champions League, as I have decided to concentrate on the domestic football.

Please check back.

MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL .....

CINCINNATI BENGALS - NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS

38 is the magic number here. That is exactly the score that New England have posted in each of their three wins this season and when these two met, on this same day last year ? That's right 38-13.

Running back Laurence Maroney had a huge game that day and under normal circumstances, he would be in for special attention this time round. But, NE have added a number of offensive options, the most potent of which is Randy Moss, already setting records after just 3 starts, with 22 receptions, 403 yards and 5 TD's. So the porous Bengals defense, ranked last against the pass last year and that has already given up 51 points to Cleveland, looks in for a very long evening.

Cincinnati also have a knack of shooting theirselves in the foot and snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.Just do not see them posting a big enough number, or having the ability to restrict the Patriot offensive.

Bengals are just 6 from 16 since that defeat in 2006, which totally shattered their confidence.

5.5 points New England -7.5 points 1.98 Pinnacle/ Vegas.

Good Luck.

FRANCE LIGUE 2 ...

GRENOBLE FOOT 38 - NANTES FC

Two of the divisions better teams met tonight, neither has a notable weakness and it is a very attractive fixture. No injury concerns, Maxence Flachez is suspended for the hosts, but that is offset, by the return of key striker, Akrour. I favour Grenoble, who, like Nantes, have lost only once this season and should have a fitness edge this evening. They have played just twice in 10 days and in the second, rested many starters. Nantes have played 3 very competitive matches in 8 days and must be feeling it in their legs. A point a piece might suit both, it would take Nantes back to the top and Grenoble into the final promotion spot, which gives a little added value to the level ball wager.

5 points Grenoble level ball 2.06 asian line.

Good Luck.

MONDAY PLANS ....

Busy week ahead, with a lot of very attractive fixtures. However, it starts fairly quietly with some standard Monday fayre. I have written previews of three football matches and will put at least one of them on the blog later, along with a look at tonight's NFL action.

I remain in good form on the american football, 3 of yesterday's 4 selections won, making 6 from 7 in the last two weekend's. On the email front, 4 of the 7 previews were successful on Sunday, meaning subscibers had access to 7 winners from 11 selections. Which capped a very nice week, 30 from 46 previews, produced winners, that's over 65%, including two at odds of 4.00 +.

Back later.
