Two very exciting semi-finals today, Justine Henin-Jelena Jankovic and Daniela Hantuchova-Svetlana Kuznetsova.
Martina Hingis must have already been thinking about the semis, when she was 6-1 4-1 up in her match yesterday, but Hantuchova benefitted from some on court coaching and fought back to earn, an unlikely looking win. Cannot think that Hingis has lost many matches from such a position, especially against a player outside the top 10, so full credit to Daniela.
She is capable of building on this and having a very good season, she just needs a few confidence boosting wins. Her record against Kuznetsova is promising, the Russian leads 4-2, but 3 of her 4 wins, have gone the distance. So the slim Slovakian, has taken at least a set in 5 of their 6 matches. Given Kuznetsova's patchy form this year, she has yet to find any real consistency and is slowly recovering from some early season sickness, there looks real value in this meeting also going all the way.
I have similar thoughts about the other semi, Henin is finding a way to win, but suffering slumps during almost every match, Schnyder really had her on the ropes yesterday. The Belgian leads the h2h 2-0, both went to 3 sets, including a US Open semi-final last year, where Jankovic looked well on top for a set and a half and was playing sensationally well.
Very good season for the Serb so far and she is likely to push Henin all the way. No doubt she would have taken note of Schnyder's tactics, which gave the world number two, such trouble.
LAY 4 points Henin 2-0 sets 2.00 Betfair.
LAY 4 points Kuznetsova 2.20 Betfair ( exposure 4.8 points).
Good Luck.
