AFTERNOON FOOTBALL

SCOTLAND

HAMILTON - DUNFERMLINE

Despite the artificial surface at Hamilton, I have to side with the visitors, who for much of the second half of last season looked, at least, mid table standard in the SPL and would never have been relegated with a better start.

13 of the 16 that were named for the Scootish Cup Final, are still at the club and excited by the upcoming UEFA Cup campaign. Both teams are without one key player today, but I expect the Pars to make their class tell and have a very good season.

4 points Dunfermline -1/4 ball 1.96 asian line.

QUEENS PARK- BRECHIN

I would have taken Brechin here, they look set for a good season and are very excited by new striker Martin Johnson, who has been on fire in pre season. However, they have a defensive crisis and their best chance is probably to outscore their newly promoted hosts, in a shoot out. "Over" for me.

4.5 points "over" 2.5 goals 1.97 asian line.

FRIENDLIES

BRENTFORD- SOUTHAMPTON

The Bees did record a narrow win over Chelsea in midweek, but that was basically the Blues youth team, who will be playing some home games at Griffin Park ( the theatre of nightmares) this season. Saints are at least two divisions better and are sending a strong squad and although they will be making plenty of substitutions during the game, that did not stop Reading from running in 6 against Brentford.

Southampton lost to Lazio last week, talk about after the Lord Mayor's Show, but won their other 3 friendlies scoring 7 goals, including a narrow 1-0 win at Millwall in midweek. Where the Lions goalkeeper, saved them from a much heavier defeat.

4.5 points Southampton -1/2 ball 1.78 asian line.

WBA - HEERENVEEN

Albion are trying out what is basically a new defence today. They are unbeaten in 6 away friendlies and scored 11 in the last 4, Heerenveen have notched 13 in their last 3 and we can expect goals today.

4.5 points "over" 2.5 goals 1.85 asian line.

Good Luck.
