I have looked through the first day's matches and decided to leave them alone, sure that we will find something tomorrow.
However, the Women's Singles outright market looks very interesting and we must get involved.
There remain doubts about Petrova, Kuznetsova, Hingis and Dementieva, for a variety of reasons. Amelie Mauresmo admits to being a little behind in her preperation.
That leaves us with Sharapova (too short), Jankovic (not sure she will last 2 weeks, after a fantastic, but gruelling start to her season) , Clijsters and Vaidisova.
Kim is my strong selection to win the event, she could easily be in her best ever, early season shape and has reached the semis at least, on her last 4 visits here.
Nicole has played twice before, reaching 3rd round in 05 and round 4 last year, she looks a more complete player now and is in excellent shape. The draw looks kind enough and she should make the quarters this time. Which will please sponsors Reebok, for whom she is debuting a new clothing line this week. I suggest we back her now and consider hedging at some later stage.
5 points Kim Clijsters 5.23 Pinnacle // 5.10 exchanges
2 points Nicole Vaidisova 19.5 echanges.
Good Luck.
