Early morning (Europe) action from Sydney, where the most interesting semi-final clash is between, Jelena Jankovic who is 8-0 for 2007 and Niclole Vaidisova.
These two look set to challenge for the major titles this season and this could be a classic encounter. Not going to go into much detail, there is some additional information in last night's posts and also the one I put online earlier today, so don't be lazy, go take a look !
Jelena went to Colombia in the off season, for some intense hot weather training and it is certainly paying dividends. Some people make a case against peaking too soon and it will be hard to maintain this level for another two and a half weeks, but confidence is a wonderful thing and will certainly not count against her today.
However, at the current quotes, I cannot desert Nicole. She leads the h2h 4-1, although Jankovic's win was the biggie, in last year's US Open. I could agree with the Serbian being the narrowest of favourites, but anything over 2.20 is value, about the long legged Czech.
Her serve, which is in wonderful shape and will earn her some cheap points, is the deciding factor for me.
Kim Clijsters should progress from the other semi, she meets Li Na who is in good form, but is just a class below the Belgian. The two faced each other in this tournament last year, Kim winning 3&1, their only other meeting came at Wimbledon, which resulted in another straight sets victory for Clijsters, albeit MUCH closer.
No bet in this match for me, but I would not be surprised if the Chinese player took a set this time, 4.64 with Pinnacle (you should also find this later on the exchanges), there are worse wagers out there.
3 points Vaidisova to beat Jankovic 2.34 Pinnacle , you should find something similar on the exchanges.
Good Luck.
