United looked to be coasting to the Conference title and a swift return to league football, just a few weeks ago.
However, a run of just one win in 12 starts and four consecutive home draws in the league, have left them trailing leaders Dagenham, by 9 points, albeit with one game in hand.
They are now entering "must win" territory, they have two home games in 5 days, if they can win these and with the Daggers still to visit the Kassam stadium, the sole automatic promotion spot can still be theirs. That is a big if and it all needs to start, with 3 points in front of the Sky cameras tonight.
Oxford have had a pretty full treatment room for many weeks, but with the resources avaiable to boss Jim Smith, he cannot use that as an excuse.
He continues to enjoy fantastic support from his board, who have allowed him to sign players, way ablove the average Conference standard.
Latvian International striker, Kristaps Grebis, has joined on a season long loan from Metalurgs (82 goals in 188 appearances) and is looking to make a career in English football.
Promising Welsh U19 midfielder Greg Coombes, has signed on loan from Cardiff and should start tonight.
Smith received a massive boost with the news that key player, Andy Burgess, was finally available to return to action, after a series of setbacks. This will raise the spirit of the entire club.
The visitors have picked up after a dismal start to a season, which originally, looked promising, they have won 3 in a row, but lack the quality of United, who could field a starting 11 with league experience.
They are still unbeaten (7-6-0) at the Kassam and I just get the feeling that United will, "turn it on" this evening. Home win for me.
4 points Oxford -3/4 ball asian line 1.98.
Good Luck.
