OPEN GAZ DE FRANCE TENNIS .......

We discussed Nathalie Dechy at length just two days ago, you can find the post by scrolling down the page. The elegant Frenchwoman has now improved to 17-10 in Paris and today meets her countrywoman, Amelie Mauresmo.

I read recently that Mauresmo, who admitted to being a little behind schedule in Australia, had just changed her racquet, cannot find the article now, which is very annoying, but do not think that I dreamt it, that would have been a waste of a dream. Amelie is definitely short of match play and could be vunerable here, her odds @ 1.16, are certainly short enough.

H2h is locked at 2-2, with Dechy winning their most recent meeting, on grass, at Eastbourne, last summer. We can lay Mauresmo 2-0 in sets at 1.50, which means 3.0 for Dechy to take one set, that sounds pretty good to me.

On our side we have a motivated player, who has already had an impressive win, meeting an admittedly better player, but one who is probably not fully fit yet and has recently changed her equipment. Anyway, that is my first selection.

Next up is the all Czech clash between Lucie Safarova and Nicole Vaidisova, who is something of a blog favourite. These two met in Australia last month, Vaidisova winning by an easy looking 6-1 6-4, the match was much closer than that and the only stat that the victor dominated on, was first serve and it is unlikely she could reproduce that level today.

In each of the three previous meetings ( h2h 3-1 Vaidisova) Safarova took the first set and she could well do the same today. I definitely expect this to be much closer and once again have to suggest a lay of her opponent to win 2-0.

lay 6 points Mauresmo to beat Dechy 2-0 sets 1.50 ( max exposure 3 points)

lay 5 points Vaidisova to beat Safarova 2-0 sets 1.64 ( max exp 3.2 points)

Good Luck.
