DAVIS CUP FINAL

Starts in Moscow this morning, it is such a huge advantage to play at home, you select the surface, the venue, the crowd is behind you, everything favours the hosts.

I do feel Russia will probably win, but the odds are woefully short and are best left well alone.

Looking at the opening rubber, which pitches Nicolay Davydenko, who won the ATP title here just six weeks ago and is now world ranked number 3. Against his nemesis, Juan Ignacio Chela, who leads their h2h 5-0, dropping only two sets, 3 of the wins were on Chela's beloved clay, but two were on hard courts, the last in Cincinnati in August.

In the fast surface matches, the statistic that leaps off the page, or the internet, is just how few chances the Russian had to break serve.

OK, now we are on carpet, which favours Davydenko and he has all the other advantages, previously outlined. However, there is always a however, once a player gets inside your head and with five straight victories, we can assume that is the case here, he is very hard to shake off.

Chela will walk on court with a little more confidence than perhaps he should have, Nicolay a little less, this seems key to me.

The Argentine said yesterday, that he was in very good shape, looked excellent in practice and was "very confident".

He is capable of taking a set, actually, I think he WILL take one and a lay of the Russian winning in straight sets, seems a very nice option.

Alternatively, for those watching or trading "in running", a lay of Davydenko to win at 1.24, seems likely to offer hedging opportunities later in the match.

lay 3 points Davydenko to win 3-0 sets 2.60 maximum ( max exp 4.8 points) betfair, currently 2.56.

Good Luck.
