FRIDAY .........

We have a whole host of football matches to choose from this evening, a full round of Ligue 2 in France, which has been very kind to us this season and key fixtures in Germany, Portugal, Italy etc. Something for everyone.

We will definitely be getting "involved".

Maybe I should discuss the second Davis Cup rubber, whilst we are all here. Marat Safin verses David Nalbandian, Goliath against David, Mr Angry verses Mr Sweaty, no offence, but the Argentine player only needs to look at a raquet, to start sweating buckets.

Plenty of history between these two, Marat leads the h2h 6-2, but their two meetings this year, both on hard courts, have gone the distance and were titanic battles.

Safin prevailed in the US Open in a 5th set tie break, Nalbandian took the spoils 6-4, 6-7, 7-6 in Madrid recently, in a match where, having come back from the brink, Marat managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, helped in no small part by some very poor line calls.

Reading between the lines, you may glean that this cost me a little money and you would be correct. It was the manner of the loss rather than the financial aspect, which rankled so much. Glad to get that off my chest.

I am not going to put this up as a bet, but if watching "in play", this match is sure to have plenty of swings and you could do worse than to lay the winner of the first set. Plenty of over reaction on the exchanges, once someone hits the front and this could easily go the distance, or a very long way.

The two met here 4 years ago and shared the opening two sets, which both went to tie breaks, Marat eventually winning in four.

Back later.

Good Luck.
