SATURDAY ....... FLEET ON THE MOVE

I am hoping to briefly preview several games on the blog today, just basic notes, because, as always, time is short and I have come to the conclusion that several days per week have less than 24 hours !

Going to start with the Rushden-Ebbsfleet game in the Blue Square Premier, discussed the visitors recently and have listened to their last two games on local radio. They are fighting hard, scoring (and conceding) freely and are desperate for points. In the loss at Salisbury, they were by far the better team for an hour and could, perhaps should, have taken the three points that day. However, despite having a man sent off in a six pointer with Eastbourne, they showed terrific heart to bounce back immediately and to hold on to win a five goal thriller.

Now they travel to meet a Rushden side unbeaten in ten starts, but which has drawn their last two and is all but guaranteed a playoff spot, they need a win from four games to be 100% certain, probably a point would be enough and in reality, results elsewhere will most likely confirm it regardless of what happens at Nene Park today. They are the better side of course, but look to be coasting into the post season and trying to conserve energy after a draining few weeks. They have a massive last game of the season, when Luton come to visit, in front of a sell out crowd, so that game will get them primed for the playoffs. I doubt they will match Fleet's intensity of performance today and a couple of the visitors have extra motivation, if that were needed, having failed to impress on trial at Rushden.

Hosts will rotate a little and give a couple a break. I have taken some +1.25 goals on the visitors at close to 2.0, this is still on offer at 1.90 + which is fair IMO as is the 9.0 for the away win which was available on the exchanges.

Back later.
