LA LIGA ...... REAL MADRID - OSASUNA / ESPANOL - REAL SOCIEDAD

Going to take a quick look at these two games, in the Primera Liga.

Zaragoza offered Real Madrid a title lifeline, by defeating Barcelona last night. This is a massive opportunity to salvage their season and close the gap on their biggest rivals, to just 2 points. With difficult looking matches against Sevilla, Valencia and away to Racing, in the next month, they are pretty much drinking in the last chance saloon.

Osasuna are very unpredictable and you can never be sure whether the side that lost this reverse fixture 4-1, or the one that won 3-0 at Leverkusen in midweek, will turn up.

It is fair to say that the visitors have little to play for today and they will be without the suspended Juanfran and Font, plus a handful of injured players. Perhaps the biggest handicap will be the loss of top scorer, Roberto Soldado, who cannot play, as he is on loan from Real.

Cannavaro, Carlos and Reyes all return to the host's squad and the Bernabeu faithful will not be happy with anything less than 3 points. Home win.

Espanol are going to rest several key players for the visit of Sociedad, prefering to save them for their UEFA Cup campaign. Both teams have suggested that they will be taking a cautious approach to the match today, with that in mind and looking at the 45 minute stats, there appears to be value in the half time draw.

The hosts have gone in level in 11 of their 14 home games (78.57%), Sociedad in 8 of 13 away (61.53%), the 45 minute stalemate is available at 2.18 (45.87%), which, under the circumstances and given Real's dire need for points, seems huge.

I do expect the visitors to push for a winner at some stage, but this is far more likely after the break.
