What has gone wrong at PSV ?
They looked terrible against Liverpool and have blown a huge points lead in their domestic league. What looked an unassailable advantage just a couple of weeks ago, has all but evaporated and they have left the door, well and truly open after defeat at NEC last night. Surely the chasing pack, namely AZ and Ajax, will not need to be invited in, a second time.
Ajax can actually take the lead in Eredivisie with a victory at RKC, by 2 or more goals. They should be capable of this and will be well aware of the psychological advantage this would give them over the Eindhoven club, just like rubbing salt into the wound.
They have a wonderful record in this fixture, winning the last 3 matches here and the last 8 home and away, infact, they have prevailed in 20 of the last 25, losing just once. The motivation factor for the Amsterdam club is simply too big, they are in fine form and have scored 12 goals in winning the last 3. It is hard not to see them taking the points and goals necessary to be league leaders by late afternoon.
AZ can remain within 2 points of the lead if they win at NAC, who have something of an injury crisis and will be missing 4-6 players today. The visitors took the reverse fixture 8-1, but a win of any sort will suffice. Once again, they will be devastated if they throw this golden opportunity away.
