TUESDAY ROUND UP ............

Sorry, nothing in the French Ligue 2, I did place a very small bet on the draw in the Reims (unbeaten at home in 10)- Strasbourg (unbeaten in 12) game at 2.90, anything above 2.80 looks value to me.

I will not put it up as a selection, my wager was minimal. Had a good look at two other games but could not get a "feel" for either.

Some of you have asked about the other Carling Cup ties tonight, nothing very exciting, but Charlton and Manchester United should both win.

United are fielding a strong enough side and Southend are in disarray at present, have conceded 3+ goals in 4 of last 6 and an average of 2 in every home game, so 0-2 or 0-3 for anyone desperate for a bet.

As I suggested they might, Charlton have picked up their game and played pretty well in the last 4 or 5 matches, boss Iain Dowie knows that they have to build on the win over Manchester City and will field the strongest squad available .

They may also field a more adventurous line up than for their Premiership games , Jimmy Floyd H may be given an outing, as well as Marcus Bent, who is well used to the likes of Chesterfield, having served his time at Brentford.

The Addicks are reasonably priced at 1.98 on Betfair and just to make it clear, they are my only selection in this post, the rest are just me rambling.... on ..........and on .......and ............on.

Chesterfield are a big, physical team and Charlton are far better able to deal with them than West Ham were in the last round.

3 points Charlton -1/2 ball 1.98 betfair.

Good luck.
