THROUGH THE MONTH OF JUNE .....

(Written 24/06)

Brentford and new coach Uwe Rosler made their first signing of the off season yesterday, but I am going to hold off on my update a little longer, as I understand there will be some more signings shortly and the German boss has still to formally finalise his backroom team. All I will say is that it is clear that Rosler has done his homework already, as the signing Shaleum Logan, who was a product of the Manchester City youth academy, plays in what has long been a problem position for the Bees and it bodes well for the future.

Just a brief update. Rosler has added two more players to his squad, with the addition of experienced german central defender Marcel Eger from St Pauli and the very talented Jonathan Douglas from Swindon. Eger is a very big unit who has clearly been brought in to marshall the defence, Douglas is very talented and was chased by a host of clubs, it says much about the ambition at the club that he choose the Bees. He has three very successful years at Leeds before joining Swindon, where he was POTY in the team that almost made it to the Championship two years ago. He would still have been at United but player and club fell out over money, quite how he has agreed terms with Brentford is a mystery, but this is a terrific signing.

As I indicated in my original post, Brentford are also looking to set up a semi formal loan arrangement with City, this makes a lot of sense as City have srapped their reserve team to focus on the Nextgen series, so many of their youngsters will have limited opportunities of competitive football. Early signs under Rosler look very good, the team have started pre season now and are looking to get fitness levels sky high, the squad are shortly moving to a summer training camp in Norway where Rosler knows the facilities well.... looking good atm.

Good Luck.
