TOTTENHAM-CHELSEA

I feel that Spurs can laugh in the face of history and get something from today's match.

It is 1990, 16 long years, since they last defeated Chelsea in the league, a truly staggering statistic and a millstone around the North Londoner's neck.

The visitors have a longer recovery time, having played in Barcelona on Tuesday, but this is offset by the fact that Spurs had no travelling and did not have to suffer the same level of pressure and intensity. So no real advantage there.

Both have decent unbeaten runs, 8 and 13 matches, respectively. We all know that Chelski are the better side, but the home team have plenty of talent of their own and competition for places.

Against Brugge in midweek they played well and I was impressed by the performances of Lennon, Zakora, Berbatov and especially Pascal Chimbonda. The last two named really look like fulfilling their potential now. With Mido and Defoe, desperate to find a starting place, Martin Jol has plenty of attacking options.

A win maybe unlikely, although that would take Spurs into the top 10, feel sure that they would accept a draw now and that is what I expect the result to be. With the next home league game 3
weeks away, they cannot afford to lose. The handicap start looks a viable option.

4 points Tottenham +3/4 ball asian line 1.94.

Good Luck.
