RANGERS ............

I feel that the Scottish side are a very big price to defeat Maccabi Haifa, who have collected just 8 points from 6 domestic matches.

The Israeli champions seem to have gone backwards and despite an impressive looking 3-1 victory over Auxerre in the opening group tie, the truth is somewhat different.

They were helped by some woeful finishing from the French side and an outstanding goalkeeping display from Nir Davidovich. Auxerre also played the last 30 minutes or so with 10 men. In truth, they had enough chances to win two games, such a sloppy defensive display will not go unpunished a second time.

Despite the poor start to their domestic campaign, Rangers are still creating untold chances. Their total of 180 attempts at goal, is over 30 ahead of runaway leaders Celtic. The fact that they have hit the woodwork on 10 occasions, tells it's own story. Their luck must turn soon.

The Gers have plenty of quality in the side and it maybe that they are better suited to european football, as opposed to the hurly burly of the SPL. It certainly looked that way in the fine win at Livorno.

They are likely to be spurred on by Celtic's inept display last night and can collect a much needed home win tonight.

4 points Rangers -1/2 ball 1.75 asian line/ betfair.

Good Luck.
