THE SHANGHAI MASTERS .......

...... has been hanging over the ATP tour like the Sword of Damocles, for what seems like months now.

Tommy Robredo has now become the 7th qualifier, so just one position remains up for grabs. James Blake's loss has left the door wide open for Mario Ancic or Tommy Haas, to snatch the 8th and final spot.

Ancic will take his place in China with victory over Nickolay Davydenko, providing Haas doesn't win the tournament. He leads the h2h 4-2, if you include challenger results and has won both encounters this year.

Nickolay is a tough guy to beat and looked impressive yesterday, but sometime he is just not "at the races". Super Mario has won 15 of his last 19 matches and could hardly have greater motivation, his whole season is on the line today and as such, looks a very attractive price.

Likewise Haas, who meets Marat Safin in the final quarter final. On his day the German can beat anybody and looked very good yesterday in his straight sets win over James Blake. He is 13-7 in all visits here and is capable of beating a tired looking Safin, who will be looking forward to a break and a big 2007. H2h is 3-2 in the Germans favour.

Think both of these are value bets, big odds, about inform players, with massive motivation, hard to pass up and we must get involved.

3 points Ancic to beat Davydenko 2.60 betfair
3 points Haas to beat Safin 2.80 betfair

Bigger odds will almost certainly be available nearer start times, Ancic should start around 15.30 cet and Haas is scheduled for 20.00 cet.

Back later with some football news.

Good Luck.
