Brighton to defeat the Red Devils.......
No, not Manchester United, but the might of Crawley Town.
The non leaguers are in a mess, they must start the season with a ten point deduction, having gone into administration.
Only 5 squad players from last season, turned up for pre season training, as all contracts were cancelled. Manager John Hollins, has had to register almost anyone prepared to play, in order for the club to fulfill the league requirements.
If Brighton were taking their first team this would be a 5 star bet, but they are not. However, contrary to some reports, they are not fielding a youth team. Seven of the starting line up tonight played in the 1-0 win at Championship side Colchester, earlier this week. Several of these boys are hungry, they are on trial and playing for their professional contracts. That is real motivation, anyway, the team is good enough for me to bet the Seagulls.
Some snippets from the Brighton website .......
France Under-21 international midfielder William Moquet will be among three trialists set to feature for the Seagulls tonight when they take on Crawley Town at the Broadfield Stadium .
He will be joined by midfielder Martin Brittain and Dan McBreen, both of whom featured in the 1-0 win at Colchester on Tuesday night.
The rest of tonight's team will be made up largely of young professionals, although Alex Revell and Alex Frutos are both set to start. Michel Kuipers and Wayne Henderson will continue their battle to be first choice keeper for the start of the season as they play a half each.
Albion Probable: Henderson, P Hinshelwood, Fraser, Breach, Rents, Brittain, Cox, Chamberlain, Frutos; McBreen, Revell.
3 points Brighton -1/2 1.90 asian line.
Good Luck.
