New Sheriff in town .....

Have to apologise about the odds, they will not make you rich, but feel that FC Sheriff Tiraspol will win comfortably tonight.

The champions of Moldova were only founded in 1997, they first won the title in 2001 and have held it ever since, also winning the national cup 3 times. That is quite some haul in just nine years.

They are owned by the very influential local businessman Victor Gushan, he has built a fantastic modern stadium and training facilities that are the envy of many top european sides. Gushan has given them the financial backing to be able to turn down big money offers for Romanian striker Razvan Kochish ( Cocis), who is being trailed by the major Spanish clubs.

Sheriff have a multi national side with players from Africa (7), Brazil(2) and a crop of promising Romanian youngsters.

Today they face Pyunik Yerevan, following a 0-0 draw in Armenia, where the local champions were restricted to one attempt on goal, Sheriff had several good chances to score and controlled the game. The Pyunik squad are virtually all home grown players, they have also won the title 5 years in a row, but have nowhere near the financial power or european ambitions of the team from Moldova.

Anything other than a home win today will be a massive disappointment to Gushan and Sheriff, everything is geared up for qualification to the next round and beyond.

3 points Sheriff -1 goal asian line 1.79.

Good Luck.
