Going to start in France, where the league and Canal + have been unhappy with the low scoring
matches, in the top two leagues.

The French Football League has launched a new initiative to increase the number of goals scored. The 'Challenge de l'offensive' ('Attacking challenge') will run separately from the traditional points system, awarding bonuses to teams who win matches by two or more goals.

While the system will not be used to determine league positions, there will be €20m prize money made available to teams in the two top divisions based on their performance in the challenge. By comparison, the winners of Ligue 1 receive €2.4m.

Last season saw just 2.2 goals per game in the French top flight, compared with nearly three per game in Germany and more than 2.5 in England, Italy and Spain. The system has been devised under the guidance of former France coach Michel Hidalgo, awarding two points for a victory by a single goal and three for a win by two or more goals.

Bit early to reach too many conclusions, we only have one full week of Ligue 2 results to hand, but only 3 matches had less than 2 goals and 5 had 3 or more, a total of 25 in 10 games, a veritable flood by Ligue 2 standards.

Not suggesting we should take ALL the "overs", but they are worth a second look. I know many people have milked the "unders" in this division over recent years, it is to these people I would say, take care.

I am extremely interested in the Chateauroux-Le Havre fixture today and am going to have two bets on this game, something I very rarely do.

H2h results are surprising, last six are 6-0-0 and all finished "over", average number of goals was 4.0, which is huge. Home and away 8/9 have finished "over".

Last week Chateauroux beat Tours 3-1 at home, Le Havre lost by the same score,entertaining Amiens.

Chateauroux started last season on fire, with 3 wins and a draw from 4, Le Havre really struggled and had to wait six games before registering their first win.
