There is an excellent chance, that when these two next meet in this fixture, it will be next season in Ligue 1, both look amongst the better sides in, what is, to my mind, a fairly weak division and only need to continue their current level of form to book a swift return. Home form is very much the key in Ligue 2 and neither is likely to lose more than a couple of matches on home soil all season. In Strasbourgs case, it may not even be that many ! They are currently 6-1-0 with an 11-2 goal difference, as we discussed a few weeks back, when last in Ligue 2 in 06-07, they went 15-4-0 and again impressed with a 27-8 goal difference. That is 26 matches, without defeat, winning 21 and conceding a miserly 10 goals ! They have only had one other recent campaign at this level in 01-02 and their home record, you will not be surprised to learn was 13-5-1 , gd 27-8 (again). That is a long time ago of course, but it only emphasizes how tough they are to beat at le Meinau.
Lens are a classy side, also strong at home, but have already lost twice on the road, where they are conceding an average of 1.4 goals per games, a full goal more than RCS are allowing at home, over a 26 match sequence. Visitors are without a couple of very key players, squads are below and I see little downside with the level ball bet.
