THE TREND CONTINUES ........

SERIE A

GENOA- ATALANTA

I posted some statistics on Tuesday (see STATS post below). To update those numbers, there were only three home wins in the eight EPL fixtures yesterday, yet both Serie A games resulted in comfortable victories for hosting teams, so, no signs of the trend changing at present.

This is a match up between two teams on the fringes of the Champions League race, IMO Genoa are by far the stronger side and with three of their next four starts, coming against bottom four teams, they have a real chance to put some pressure on the clubs above them in the table. They took a huge amount of confidence from the derby win last week, when Serie A top scorer Diego Milito, notched his 12th goal of the season. Genoa are 6-1-0 at home and will certainly not be sitting back, as they return to a three man attack today. The only time they played with just two strikers at home, was in their opener against Milan, normally starting with a 3-4-3 formation, which plays to their strengths and is paying dividends. Atalanta are the archetypal upper mid table "A" team, very strong at home and struggling (1-1-5) on the road, where they have only scored five goals and are far more cautious, you might even say timid. Home win.

5.5 points Genoa -1/2 ball 1.97 exchanges.

Good Luck.
