WERDER BREMEN - BAYERN MUNICH There was plenty of talk that all was not well in the Bayern camp and that several senior players wanted rid of Jurgen Klinsmann, but those rumours were pretty much put to bed, with the 5-0 win at Sporting in midweek. That has ensured a quarter final place in the Champions League and means that they can now concentrate their efforts, at least for a few weeks, on the domestic competition.
Results yesterday have meant that Bayern can join Hoffenheim in third with a win today and with all the big names Ribery, Klose and Toni on the scoresheet in Lisbon, surely we will see them fully motivated and close to their best today. They want revenge for the 5-2 home defeat in the reverse fixture and have positive memories of their last two trips here, both of which they won, with four goals in each.
Bremen came back from two down to record a 2-2 darw at Milan and eliminate the Italian giants from the UEFA Cup on thursday. I am not sure how bothered Milan were to be honest, but it was a boost for the German side and despite having very little to play for in the Bundesliga , they will not lack motivation today, as everyone loves to beat Bayern.
However, they have had a full 24 hours less recovery time and are simply not performing in the league, with just one win since November and also have a DFB- Pokal qurter final in midweek. I have to side with Bayern and given their goal scoring prowess, have to take a little on a massive handicap quote (error) offered by William Hill.
