DYNAMO KIEV- METALIST An all Ukrainian tie and I think we could be in for a "shock". Metalist are an up and coming club with a very wealthy owner , are improving year on year and are extremely motivated to do well in this competition and make their name known on a wider stage.
They recent lost 2-0 at home to Dynamo, in a match which all but decided the title race, but Metalist were distracted by the Sampdoria game in the previous round and suffered what they described on their website, as some "scandalous" officiating in that match, including the award of a "goal" which never crosed the line. They are expecting more even handed decisions from the English officials, although I suspect Mike Riley's Ukrainian is a little rusty. This is Metalist's season on the line and they will be very keen to keep things tight and it is also unlikely that Kiev will be too gung-ho and first priority for the hugely experienced European campaigners, will be to keep a clean sheet. It is a big handicap start for the visitors and when two teams from the same country meet in Europe, the first game is almost always very close and tight.
