Only qualification matters and having been eliminated at this stage in each of the last two seasons, I expect Porto be a little edgy and also, happy to play for the low scoring draw that would see them progress, after a 2-2 scoreline in the first leg in Madrid.
Atletico, of course, will have to open up at some stage and go in search for the win that would see them through to the next stage. They arrive in fantastic heart, after beating Barcelona in a seven goal thriller and completely outplaying Real at the Bernabeu on Sauturday, the 1-1 scoreline does little justice to Atletico and a 2-3 goal margin of victory, would not have been totally unfair. They break quickly and have an abundance of attacking flair. A very strong squad has travelled, with the addition of the returning Raul Garcia.
These are two highly rated teams playing very close to the top of their game. However, Porto have already drawn two home starts in the last month, against two of their biggest rivals for the domestic title and a third would certainly not disappoint them tonight. Therefore, taking the visitors getting a handicap start and at odds against, seems the logical choice, especially given the inferiority complex Portugese teams often seem to have, playing their Iberian neighbours.
6 points Atletico Madrid +1/4 ball 2.08 asian line.
Back later.
